Harry McNeilus founded McNeilus Steel, Inc. in 1948 with little more than a single axle truck and a lot of hard work. He began buying and selling scrap metal, a venture that had its share of challenges. "I told friends I was operating a one-horse business," McNeilus recalls. "I was the horse."
